Netflix has today published an update for the official Android app, rolling out enhanced visual search results and enabling subscribers to manage their profiles from within the app. The official app itself opens up a world of streaming for those on smartphones and tablets and offers unlimited viewing of the vast collection of movies and TV shows.
The enhanced visual searching brings the Android Netflix experience up to speed with other platforms, particularly the website and compatible televisions. Gone were the days of text and wasted space, the Netflix team have refreshed the search results layout to focus more on cover art. It also means more results can be displayed before having to scroll.
It makes more sense to have larger splashes of cover art for those on touch-enabled hardware like smartphones and tablets. As lightly touched on already, those with active subscriptions are now able to manage their Netflix profiles from within the Android app, and the team have also implemented background playback with notifications for quick resume.
The update is now live on Google Play, so check it out and let us know what you think.
