Come tomorrow when Motorola offers everyone the chance to buy this year's latest Moto X for $499 contract-free, students and educators can save a cool $50 off of the price of the phone with educational pricing. This would take the Moto X's cost down to just $449.99, making Motorola's latest flagship just a little bit more affordable in the spirit of back-to-school savings. The best news about the offer is that it's not valid just for current students and staff, but Motorola is extending the sale and savings to anyone with an .EDU email account. Don't try to force a strap that's too thick onto your Moto 360

Yikes. What you see up there is my absolute favorite padded ostrich watch strap. It's the right size to fit the Moto 360 (that'd be 22mm, same as the LG G Watch ), and I've been thinking of how good it would look once I got it on there. I figured I could squeeze it under the circular lip when I saw it was just too thick. The leather backing did not agree with me ... The strap on the Moto 360 is easy enough to change. You do it like any other watch, whether it be Android Wear , or Pebble , or Timex. It uses the same spring bars many of us are familiar with, and the process is fairly simple . But you will need to make sure the strap you want to use is thin enough to fit under the little lip on the circular back cover. Now Moto did tell us that they only recommend their leather straps. And they are very nice leather straps, indeed. I'll see if someone can't re-stitch the backing in place and put my favorite strap back on another watch. In the me

Larry Ellison steps down at Oracle, replaced by new CEOs Hurd and Catz

Mark Hurd ( formerly of HP ) and Safra Catz will both take over as CEO concurrently, though Oracle isn't handing out the "co-CEO" title to either of them. Though he's one of the richest people in the world, Ellison isn't leaving the company — he plans to stay on full time as the executive chairman and CTO of the company instead. Oracle may be best known from an Android enthusiast point of view as the company often in legal tie-ups with Google over Android and Java , but runs as an extremely large business with many enterprise products. After introducing mandatory signups for Google+ with every new Gmail account back in 2012, Google has eased its stance, and will now let users choose whether they want to create a Google+ profile when they sign up for a new email address. The change, which went live early this month, gives users the ability to opt out of creating a Google+ profile. According to a Google spokesperson, who confirmed the change to WordStream : We updated the signup experience in early September. Users can now create a public profile during signup, or later, if and when they share public content for the first time (like a restaurant review, YouTube video or Google+ post). As the screenshot above indicates, you would only need to create a Google+ profile if you're looking to use the social features of any of Google's services, like leaving a comment on YouTube, for instance. LG has the world's largest advertisement, and it's in Saudi Arabia

The advertisement, which is right outside the Riyadh International Airport in Saudi Arabia, is two football fields long and stretches along a road leading into the airport. LG says it expects a good number of the 20 million people who visit the area to see the billboard. That's a pretty impressive feat, and one that meets the lofty goal of living up to the airport, which is pretty impressive in itself.
