Lenovo has today announced a pair of new Android tablets in its Yoga lineup, the Yoga Tablet 2. Like its predecessor it also comes in both 8-, and 10-inch sizes and has a design centered around the fold out kickstand. And presumably thanks to a hole in that kickstand, the Yoga Tablet 2 now has a fourth 'mode,' known as hang.
Neither the 8- nor 10-inch models are particularly lacking on the hardware front with a bump in the internals and the display resolution since the original Yoga tablet graced us with its presence.
So, what of the hardware? Here's a quick rundown of the main specs:
Category | Features |
---|---|
OS | Android 4.4 KitKat |
Chipset | Quad-core Intel Atom Z3745 (up to 1.86GHz) |
RAM | 2GB |
Display Size | 8- or 10-inches IPS |
Display Resolution | 1920x1200 |
Cameras | 8MP f2.2 Rear 1.6MP Front |
Internal Storage | 16GB |
External Storage | microSD |
Connectivity | 802.11b/g/n Dual-Band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) , Optional 4G (in select countries, not US): WCDMA (900/2100 MHz), GSM/EDGE (900/1800/1900 MHz), Integrated Bluetooth® 4.0 |
Weight | 419g (8-inch), 619g (10-inch) |
Battery | Upto 18 hours on a single charge |
Audio | 2x front large-chamber speakers, Dolby® Audio, Wolfson® Master Hi-FiTM |
As with the previous Yoga tablets the Yoga 2 looks great for media consumption. But, the 10-inch model will also have an optional Bluetooth keyboard accessory should you so desire to get productive. At launch the two tablets should cost around the $249 and $299 mark for the 8- and 10-inch models respectively. At the time of writing there's no exact launch date available.
We'll be going hands on with the new tablets shortly, so stay tuned.
