Ready for another phablet? ZTE has just announced the ZMAX. It's a value-priced LTE smartphone with a 5.7 inch HD screen. It will be exclusively available with T-Mobile beginning September 24th for just $252 outright. It runs a nearly stock version of Android KitKat 4.4 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor.
We got our hands on the device during a ZTE press event in New York City. Go watch our video!
ZTE ZMAX specifications:
- Battery: 3400 mAh
- Dimensions: 6.4" x 3.3" x 0.35", 6.7 oz.
- Display: 5.7" TFT LCD HD 1280 x 720
- Memory: 16GB ROM, expandable to 32GB via micro SD
- Network Compatibility: LTE, GSM
- Operating System: Android KitKat 4.4
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad Core with Adreno 305 GPU at 1.2 GHz
- Camera: 8MP rear, 1.6MP front, 1080p video
The ZTE ZMAX has a 3400 mAh battery, which is one of the highest-capacity batteries on the market and, under normal usage, lasts two days on average according to ZTE. We'll have to test that for ourselves in our full review.
While the ZTE ZMAX has a huge 5.7-inch display, ZTE designed the phone with a curved smooth back and slender build to make it feel more comfortable to hold.
Starting September 24th, the ZTE ZMAX will be available at participating T-Mobile retail locations and online at T-Mobile.com for $0 down and $10.50 a month for 24 months on T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan. You can also get it outright for just $252.
The ZTE ZMAX is not going to grab attention from those who want the latest and greatest phones. The price point is going to target those who may want the greatest, but have limited budget. For a fraction of the price tag of flagship devices, you can get a phablet running near-stock Android with a huge battery.
