The unbranded, unlocked version of Motorola's new Moto X will go by the name Moto X Pure Edition. While it will still retain Motorola's custom software tweaks, it will lack any of the carrier software found in the different branded versions of the device. It will also be sold directly by Motorola. If this sounds familiar, it's exactly what Motorola did with the original 2013 Moto X, except it didn't have a name.
The 2014 Moto X was originally unveiled at an event earlier this month. It features a 5.2-inch display, a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16 or 32GB of internal storage. While the Moto X will be available on-contract at carriers for $99, the off-contract version will start at $499. Expect to pay that much for the Pure Edition as well.
